The Government Inspector

It is not too late to get tickets for this year’s production – The Government Inspector.  Originally written by Nikolai Gogol and adapted by David Harrower, the play is a satire set in Russia in the 1830s.

The narrative unfolds in a small provincial town called Svistunov. The town is poorly governed by the Mayor and his troop of bungling senior town officials. When the Mayor hears that a Government Inspector is rumoured to visit the town, he and his band of merry men descend into panic. Fearful that the extent of their dishonesty and incompetence be exposed, they clutch at straws to save their reputations…… A simple case of mistaken identity exposes the hypocrisy and corruption at the heart of the town.

The students involved in the production auditioned in July last year and have been rehearsing regularly since September. It has been wonderful to see them explore the fun of the text and develop comic characters. As always, the actors have been supported by an enthusiastic production and technical team who have been working to develop the look of the piece.

Tickets are £8 and £5 concession.

Tickets can be reserved by emailing dramaboxoffice@ktemplar.herts.sch.uk

Tickets can also be purchased from the canteen at break and lunch times.

We do hope you can join us at 7.00pm one evening next week for a trip to Svistunov……
